"Bring on the Cubs!"
I have been trying to decided where I think the Cubs should have their new spring training facility built at. So to help me out, I compiled a list of pros and cons for each site. From this list, you can decide for yourself.
Mesa
Pros:
- Huge existing fan base
- No hurricanes
- Low humidity
- Short distance of travel for away games
- Few weather delays
- Kings of the Catcus League
- Not too far from Las Vegas
- Long time tradition
- Heat
- Cacti
- Old wrinkly folk
- Shitty teams
- Mesa is kind of a dump
- 60 years in Arizona, no NL pennant
- Annoying Brewers fans coming to preseason games
- Too close to Flagstaff
- New facility to be built on sand.
- Long time tradition of losing
- No water.
What a desolate place this is.
Naples
Pros:
- Hurricanes!!!
- Lots of a good number of Cub fans
- Better competition
- Long bus trips to bond with teammates
- Beaches
- More rain-outs = more rest
- Closer to Dominican Republic
- Not too far from Disneyworld
- Maybe Ronnie Woo Woo will not follow the team to Florida.
- 521 out of the last 523 World Series winners have trained in Florida
- No tradition of losing
- Old cosmetically altered people
- Humidity
- No tradition
- Bugs
- Can't be up on White Sox during the spring.
- Gators
- Florida is America's wang.
- Are second fiddle in the Grapefruit League next to the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, Phillies
- Annoying Cardinal fans coming to spring training games
- Too close to Daytona
- Lame ass palm trees
- New facility to be built on a swamp
- Dirty water
As you can see, each place has more 'cons' than 'pros', so maybe the Cubs should train somewhere completely different....like Hawaii. That's something I think we can all agree to.
