I'm going to do this quick...here are all the rumors I've heard today about the Cubs.
Dye for 4th outfielder.
Sheets is just about a done deal. (From a Toronto paper)
Xavier Nady for 4th outfielder.
Heath Bell...yada yada yada.
Ok, here is my take on this.
Dye...scary, but seems to be gaining traction. This would be a bad move.
Sheets...I just don't see it. The Cubs don't have the money...and it seems like everyone in the organization is pretty much settled on the starters they currently have.
Nady...Probably a better option than Dye, in my opinion. And he might be cheap, but he might not be healthy.
Bell...The Padres just signed them to avoid arbitration. I just don't see them wanting to trade him.
Look, none of these rumors addresses what I feel are the things the Cubs really need...a starting second baseman, a lefty to drive in some runs, and a veteran setup man.
