Sandberg to manage AAA Iowa in 2010. And in Chicago in 2011?

This young man is one step closer to managing in the big leagues!

Carrie Muskat, and about 12 other people, have reported that Ryne Sandberg has been promoted to manager of the Iowa Cubs in 2010.

Why is this important?

Well, it pushes the possibility of Sandberg replacing Lou Piniella as Cubs manager in 2011 (assuming Lou doesn't sign his 15 year extension, which would include a golf cart for his trips to the mound).

As a Sandberg fan, I'm really happy for him.

Why the change?  Sandberg was told a month ago that he would be staying put in Tennessee next year.  But former Iowa manager, Bobby Dickerson, decided to take a job with the Orioles.

Congrats, Ryno!
