Fred Mitchell has reported that a source close to Andre Dawson has stated that Dawson has been promised to have his number 8 retired by the Cubs if he goes into the Hall as a Cub.
The Nationals/Expos have already retired Dawson's #10...
So, hey HOF, put him in as a Cub! There's no down side to doing it.
