The Blogging Players

For the last two seasons, there has been a player on the Cubs roster that has written a blog during the season.  In 2008 that player was Mark DeRosa.  This past season it was Reed Johnson.  (In fact, if you want to see what he blogged about, go here.)

Reed Johnson's last entry was a couple weeks ago:
Thanks to everyone who checked out my blog. Hope to be back next year.
-- Reed

Sorry, Reed. It does not look like that will happen.

After the 2008 season, the Cubs rather quickly traded Mark DeRosa to the Indians (leaving them without a proven second baseman and backup 3rd baseman).  And unfortunately for Reed who is a free agent this year, it looks like he will not be offered a contract from the Cubs even though they really don't have a true center fielder.  Hopefully the reports are wrong about this.  Reed's a good player.  He just needs to stay healthy.

Maybe Jim Hendry has something against shaved heads.

Well, I think the lesson here is if a player wants to stay with the Cubs, they should keep away from writing a blog during the season.

If only Aaron Miles knew how to write!
