Cubs overpay Koyie Hill by $3.65 million

In case you were afraid the Cubs would have to go to an arbitration hearing with Koyie Hill...they won't now.

The Cubs signed Hill to a $850,000 contract for the 2011 season.

Fangraphs has listed Hill's value last season as -$2.8 million dollars.

No, that minus sign is not a typo.  He should have payed the Cubs $2.8 million for the damage he caused the 2010 team.

Anyway, even with what I said yesterday, with this done, there is probably little chance that Hill will not be the Cubs backup catcher this season.  Hopefully Geovany Soto stays healthy.
