Pick your poison

The Cubs appear to finally be making some noise in trying to find a first baseman.

They supposedly were indeed in on Adrian Gonzalez…but that boat has sailed.

The talks now turn to Adam LaRoche, Carlos Pena, Nick Johnson, Lyle Overbay, and James Loney…

Don’t let all the excitement over these possibilities overwhelm you now.

LaRoche can hit homers and drive in runs…but the D-Backs let this guy go and are considering replacing him with Derrek Lee. Pena can’t get on base (but he still drives in runs). Nick Johnson would be a welcome addition to the Cubs disabled list. Overbay will make us yearn for those fine days with Hee Seop Choi at first base. And the Dodger fans would be just fine if we took Loney off their hands.

There you have it, folks.

Nick Johnson went on the DL after squeezing that turd out.
LaRoche led the Pirates to 5 straight division titles (kinda).
Loney is a really good belly flopper.
Overbay loves watching his foul balls fly into the stands.
The 'Mendoza Line' was renamed the 'Pena Line' after last season.
Pick your poison.
