Nothing for $144,359,000

The last of the significant annual baseball award came out today with Josh Hamilton winning the AL MVP award.

With that over with, I've decided to take a look at what the Cubs got this season with the $144,359,000 they paid in salaries (according to Cot's Baseball Contracts...your mileage may vary).  Here is how the Cubs players fared in the voting for annual awards for 2010.

  • # of Gold Gloves: 0

  • # of First Place votes for Cy Young: 0
  • # of Second Place votes for Cy Young: 0
  • # of Third Place votes for Cy Young: 0
  • # of Fourth Place votes for Cy Young: 0
  • # of Fifth Place votes for Cy Young: 0

  • # of First Place votes for MVP: 0
  • # of Second Place votes for MVP: 0
  • # of Third Place votes for MVP: 0
  • # of Fourth Place votes for MVP: 0
  • # of Fifth Place votes for MVP: 0
  • # of Six Place votes for MVP: 0
  • # of Seventh Place votes for MVP: 0
  • # of Eighth Place votes for MVP: 0
  • # of Ninth Place votes for MVP: 0
  • # of Tenth Place votes for MVP: 0

It sure looks like the Cubs got their money's worth this season...doesn't it?

No Gold Gloves...fine.

No Cy Young votes of any kind...fine...

But with a $144 million payroll, you should at least have someone that could get just one vote in the top 10 of the MVP balloting....just one 10th place vote?  No?

UGH!
