Hufflepuff says “Sayonara”

No, this has nothing to do with the next Harry Potter movie being released on Friday...

Micah Hoffpauir won't be playing any first base for the Cubs or Iowa this year. He signed a contract with the Nippon Ham Fighters. (I'm not sure how you fight ham...but it is Japan.)

A highlight of Hoffpauir in his time with the Cubs (with another likely-to-be-gone-soon career minor leaguer, Sam Fuld):

Being out of minor league options, ti was a good bet that Hufflepuff was going to be designated for assignment after spring training anyway assuming with the Cubs in the market for an everyday 1st baseman.

After the 2008 season, he was many people's pick to replace Derrek Lee at second base. Both Micah and Derrek showed us all why we were so horribly wrong.

Sayonara, Hufflepuff. Domo Arigato and good luck.
