All-Star Carlos Silva?

Four or five days ago I was arguing with people on LOHO that Z should remain in the bullpen, and a number of the people there fought back saying that Silva should be dumped to that role and Z return to the rotation.

Hogwash.  (Does that make me sound dated?)

Silva is now 5-0!

Silva is an accomplished swimmer too.

He has the second lowest ERA of any of the starters on the team next to...um...Dempster?  No...Wells?  No.  Um...Gorzelanny.

I hate to tell you people this, right now, but as of right now, Carlos Silva is an All-Star.  Right now, his stats are comparable to other likely All-Stars right now...Barry Zito, Jon Garland, Livan Hernandez and Mike Pelfrey.

:)

Ok...that's a silly list, but his stats are looking fairly good right now and with the Cubs having one of the best starting rotations in the NL, the deserve to have a member of their starting rotation on the All-Star team, and that pitcher should be Carlos Silva.  Only Jamie Moyer and Brad Penny have fewer walks amongst starters with 8 or more starts.  He obviously has the record as well.

Yes it is early, but if Silva keeps this up for another month, the talk about him being an All-Star needs to be taken a little more seriously.
