Are the Cubs considering moving Dempster to the bullpen to help ailing offense?

Reports from SI are that the Cubs are considering moving Ryan Dempster to the bullpen as a setup man for Carlos Marmol.

Yep...instead of having a $3.5 million left hander blowing games in the 8th inning, the Cubs will have a $12.5 million right hander blowing games in the 8th inning.  Makes sense to me.

Besides, I'm more upset about the offense right now.

Anyway, take this all with a grain of sand...

One thing that has, without a doubt, been true about the Cubs while Lou Piniella has been manager is that a lot of crazy ideas get thrown about, but in the end he always goes back to what he started the season with.

The only monkey wrench in this whole thing is the fact that Ted Lilly is coming back this weekend.  It has been assumed Gorzelanny would get moved to the pen...but, unfortunately, that doesn't do us much good as Russell would probably be the odd man out and sent to Iowa.

If Dempster were to be sent to the pen, Jeff Samardzija would undoubtedly be the player sent to Iowa when Lilly comes back.
