Winter Meetings, day 2: The latest news

12/8 6:50 pm:

Sorry about the lack of updates...I've had a busy afternoon...(including the beginning of a blizzard here in Madison!)

  • As I said before, Granderson is a Yankee.
  • Gregg is being looked at by the Brewers (hahahaha!)
  • Seattle was said to be interested in Bradley.  That was quickly shot down.
  • Bobby Crosby is going to the Pirates, as they continue to stockpile crap.
  • And Chone Figgins is going to the Mariners.
  • Carrie Muskat hints that there is yet another AL team in the mix for Bradley...not Seattle and not Anaheim.

Hendry is being tight lipped about Bradley negotiations.  It appears there are a lot more false rumors than in years past...possibly due to the increased popularity of Twitter.

12/8 12:58 pm:

It's a done deal, it appears.  Curtis Granderson is a Yankee, and the Cubs still have a farm system.

12/8 11:58 am:

Only a couple of new notes...

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN:  J.J. Putz might be on the Cubs radar for that reliever position that Lou talked about.  He we hurt most of the second half last year.  He might be a cheep option.

The Yankees/Granderson three way trade may still have legs.  It's looking less likely Granderson to the Cubs will ever be more than a dream.  The Tigers are asking a lot for him.

12/8 10:41 am:

Day two has started relatively quiet for the Cubs.  No stupid writer or reporter from the east coast has started a Burrell-Castillo-Bradley trade rumor yet today.

In former Cub news, Phil Rogers said that Felix Pie is one of the Orioles most asked about players.  His tweet almost insinuates that the Cubs should look into him.

A blockbuster three way trade between the Yankees, D-Back and Tigers doesn't appear to be happening.

*Yawn*

Lots of talk, but little action right now.
