I wrote this...
Tom Ricketts...bring in (Fredi) Gonzalez. There will not be a better managerial candidate available after this season.
Well, well, well...
Today...
From Bruce Levine of ESPN...
Former Florida Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez will be one of the candidates interviewed for the Chicago Cubs managerial job, according to a major league source.
As I said a month ago, this is our man! GET IT DONE!
Ain't he dreamy?
I truly believe this is the best man the Cubs could get. If Gonzalez is willing to come here, the Cubs should make every effort to bring him in.
In reality, is the likelihood of Gonzalez getting hired very high? I don't think so. He doesn't fit the profile of manager that the Cubs have hired over the last decade (Baylor, Baker, Piniella). On top of that, I believe he is the heir apparent in Atlanta. But I can always dream, right? And also bring Sandberg in as the third base coach.
