Ok Z...take a hike (and take Lee with you)

For those of you that missed it,

Derrek Lee and Carlos Zambrano got into a bit of a shouting match in the dugout between the 1st and 2nd innings today.

Z also went ballistic on a cooler as well.

And I'm all for this team showing some emotion.  Bob Brenly, on the air said the following, "This has been a dead-ass team for the better part of 3 months to start this season."  And that is right...and Derrek Lee has been one of the deadest asses on that team.

So some people are wondering...with the Lou blowup yesterday and the now the dugout scuffle...is this team poised to make a run now?

I doubt it.  The Cardinals are not the 2007 Brewers.  And this team has much deeper problems than that 2007 team did.

But in the end, Z's behavior, and his pitching performances, have been pathetic.  He just needs to go...and go anywhere.  The truth is, the change will do both the Cubs and Z some good.  It is completely obvious by observing Zambrano over the last 2 1/2 years that he is in desperate need of a change of scenery.

And as far as Derrek Lee is concerned...start acting like a leader.  Start getting your uniform dirty (he should have dived for that ball that Pierre hit in the first).  He can go too.  Lee has failed as a team leader.

Just get rid of both of these guys...Xavier Nady can handle things at first base and give Cashner a chance to start.

One other interesting part about this Z-Lee thing today...Lou pulled Z from the game immediately afterward.  It very well could be that this is the end of Z in a Cubs uniform...or the beginning of the end anyway.  Yes, he did struggle in the first inning today, but fight or no fight, he shouldn't have been lifted unless there was a larger reason.

Remember...after the Z-Barrett fight in 2007, Barrett was gone about one week later.
