I forgot to post the pitching matchups for this weekend's series...
Today, Super Ted Lilly is facing Ian Kennedy. Judging by what I saw when I was running this morning, the wind will probably be blowing out to left field, which will make things difficult for Lilly, a fly ball pitcher, facing a good D-Back lineup. Kennedy pitched well in his last outing against the Phillies, but didn't get the win. Ian pitched 8 innings in that game and gave up only 2 runs.
Tomorrow, Randy Wells vs. Rodrigo Lopez. Lopez has pitch decently this year...with the exception of his last outing against the Phillies...6 runs in 6 innings of work. Wells has been very good this year...hopefully he can keep it up.
Saturday: The Orca goes against, I believe, Dan Haren. Haren is their ace right now. He's a workhorse. In his last outing he gave up only 2 runs in 8 innings against the Rockies. Silva had his worst outing of the year on Monday, but still pitched extremely well...3 runs in 7 innings as the Cubs won 4-3 in extras that day.
Sunday: Gorzelanny will face Edwin Jackson who was rocked on Tuesday by Colorado. As I mentioned in an earlier blog, Jackson gave up 10 runs in just over 2 innings of work. He should be well rested, I suppose. Sloth had a rocky 1st inning on Tuesday, but settled down an pitched a fine game against the Nats, but was still given the loss. Good thing for Gorzelanny, he won't be facing the D-Backs ace...the first time in 4 starts he hasn't faced the other team's ace pitcher.
The two weekend games, the D-Backs haven't officially announced their starters, so they could change.
