Hello, Cubs? I just wanted to tell you that spring training is over.

Well, that was about as bad of a game as you could have possibly have imagined.

The final score was 143 to 5...or something like that.

Zambrano was horrible.  Everything he threw was up.  And while he initially wasn't getting hit hard, he wasn't missing many bats....

Then Jason Heyward came to the plate.  The sound of the ball coming off his bat was frightening.  And about 834 feet later, the Braves were up 6-3.  And that was just the first inning.

Z didn't make it out of the second inning.

The game did have some bright spots.  Sean Marshall came in and pitched unbelievably well as he relieved Z.  Marlon Byrd hit a 3 run homer in the first. Fukudome got on base 3 times. Ramirez reminded us why we so desperately need him to stay healthy.  James Russell also pitched well in relief.

Back to the bad stuff.  Theriot and Fontenot looked clueless both in the field and at the plate today.  I hope Jim Hendry has that speed dial set for Tennessee to get Castro up here in the middle of May.  Jeff Samardzija was horrendous.  Worse than Zambrano even.

A little note to Lou Piniella...DON'T START ZAMBRANO ON OPENING DAY ANY MORE.  (Of course, if Lou retires, then we will have to hope that Ryne Sandburg knows better.)

Derrek Lee even had an error in the field today.

Really, this game was probably one of the worst all-around games the Cubs have had in a long time...(like years).  They were throwing the ball all over the field, panicking, and looked uptight.

Unfortunately, things only get more difficult against the Braves the next two games as the Cubs will face off against their two best starters, Jurrjens and Hanson.

To add insult to injury today, the Cardinals won with Albert "I'm washed up" Pujols hitting two homers.  Yeah.  That's right.  I was right on when I said that his best days were behind him.  Blah!

Now we get a day off while we contemplate how shitty this team might actually be.

Well, enjoy watching the coronation of Duke tonight.
