A quick post before a long day.

I'll be gone most of the day today...(yes, Frank, another track meet...in fact an enormous track meet in Whitewater)...

A quick post,

Randy Wells looked good yesterday pitching just under 5 innings giving up 2 runs as the Cubs beat the White Sox 8-4 before another Cactus League record crowd.

The Cubs hit four homers...all by guys we should expect big things from this year: Lee, Soriano, Byrd and Nady.

Today?

Split squad action.  Zambrano starts for the Cubs today in Mesa against the Royals.  Gorzelanny starts against the A's in Phoenix.

Aramis Ramirez is still out with triceps problems.  The Sun-Times says that he will probably start doing some DH-ing soon (today?) in minor league camp as the triceps problem is really only affecting his ability to play in the field.

And one last note, if any of you where hoping for a Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn type of thing from Randy Wells this year...it ain't going to happen.  Despite failing an eye test early this spring, after a couple of attempts, Wells has said that he will not where glasses on the mound.

If you want to read a story about it, go here. Funniest thing I read about the Cubs in a while was the quote from Wells about not wearing the glasses...
''It's not like I put them on and all of a sudden I'm Nolan Ryan or something,''
Ryan had 292 loses in his career. Good move!  LOL!

Time to fight the snow to drive to the track meet!
