AL Cy Young winner: Zack Greinke

Zach Greinke of the Kansas City Royals has won the AL Cy Young award...

And well deserved...I'd say he was easily the best pitcher in the AL, if not all of baseball, this year.  His ERA in the first part of the season was just ridiculous posting a 0.50 mark in April and 1.57 in May!!

But, this is not only a great thing for Greinke, who has had an up and down career to this point, but a great thing for the whole Royals organization which has been down for a very long time now.

The Royals have him locked up for another 3 years...so either the Royals will build around the guy and/or  they will suck and look to trade him after the 2011 season.  (I'd expect the latter to happen).

It will be interesting to see how Greinke follows this up next year.  Is it just a one year blip for an average pitcher?  Or will he suddenly become a perennial Cy Young candidate similar to Roy Halladay.

Thursday, will one of the Cardinal pitchers win the NL Cy Young?  Or will it be Tim Lincecum?

Managers of the Year are announced tomorrow.
